Both my children attend Children’s Village every week and both enjoy it thoroughly. Right from day one, we were all warmly welcomed by the ever creative, energetic and caring Paulina, Marta and Paula. ❤️

Watching the children being guided to come up with ideas for group projects, and then watching the children being given the space and time to run those ideas themselves is something very special indeed.

Children’s Village is not just a place to drop your kids off at for the day, it’s a loving community that cares deeply about each individual and family who takes part.  Our lovely facilitators (and now friends ❤️) consistently support each child to fully realise their ideas and interests with as much fun and autonomy as possible.  The atmosphere is always, calm, inclusive, joyful and engaging. The sunny weather filled our day with fantastic energy. We began our morning by sharing our plans and discussing our new affirmation: "I am creative and I express myself in many ways." That spirit was alive everywhere as we enjoyed the beautiful weather outdoors. Just like last week, a group of boys headed straight for tennis as a warm-up before their booked court session, and it was great to see even more children join the activity today. Meanwhile, the girls got out the yoga mats for a time of yoga, dancing and connection.

After noticing limited enthusiasm for the planned film project, we gathered the group to discuss it. Everyone had a chance to share how they were feeling and collectively decided to let last week's idea go in favour of working on a shorter film. They brought out the pantomime horse we sewed a while ago, and the project quickly took off — so much so that they decided they needed a second horse actor! A new one was promptly sewn and is ready for the filming adventures to continue next week.

Elsewhere, the day was filled with great vibes. We witnessed magic tricks, games of Wink Murder and Twister, awesome crafting, including weaving, sharing books and an enthusiastic treasure dig in the garden.

We ended with a special celebration in our goodbye circle, marking the project's fifth birthday with beautiful cakes and some exotic fruit. Sharing stories from our first year was a lovely moment of connection. Here's to another year of learning and growing together!

Another super exciting day at Children’s Village is behind us. As always, we began with our morning meeting, where we shared news, chatted about the upcoming summer fair, and discussed plans for the day. We also tasted some yummy fruit and veg and picked a new affirmation card: “I welcome all my feelings, knowing that they are a part of who I am.”

Straight after the meeting, most of the group got involved in the woodworking project. The children worked on two big ideas: building a car and making a trolley. They had small and large pieces of wood to choose from, and used hammers, a screwdriver, a saw, and a sander to bring their visions to life. Supported by one of our parents, they worked alongside each other and figured out step by step how to make things work. In addition to the big projects, smaller toys were created—cars, a ramp and some simple weapons. A ‘javelin’ was knocked together and thrown in the field. And when the main car was ready, volunteers lined up for rides—and what happy rides they were!

What else? Card games were played, a puzzle was completed, paper planes flew everywhere, and a group comic strip took shape.

We ended the day with a treat: homemade lemonade infused with our garden mint and strawberries. Mmm!

Another awesome day behind us! The morning began with some colourful face painting, followed by our meeting where we shared news, discussed the day ahead and brainstormed exciting ideas for the summer fair stalls. Then it was time for the baking project – the children carefully measured all the ingredients and mixed up a delicious sponge cake batter themselves before popping it in the oven to bake.

While waiting for their cake, the children spotted a sprinkler in the field and couldn't resist some spontaneous water play – a great way to cool down! This sparked so much enthusiasm that the water fun continued all afternoon as they created their very own imaginative water park. They designed everything from the entrance scanner, changing room and shower area to thrilling attractions like a bubbling cauldron, a slippy slide and even a rock'n'roll slide! The creativity didn't stop there – they filmed and edited a promotional video for their water park using CapCut, proudly showing their work afterwards.

Between all this excitement, there were grasshoppers to observe (safely released after), energetic races around the field, bricks to build with, chess games to play and even an ambitious jigsaw puzzle attempt.

We ended our day sharing favourite moments in the circle, agreeing on next week’s plan and, of course, enjoying the sponge cake they’d baked earlier, now topped with homemade whipped cream, fresh fruit, jam and a frozen banana ‘ice’ layer. Yummy!

We knew it would be a special day when our morning affirmation card showed a little boat—a happy omen for the raft we were planning to build! The morning meeting focused on our main adventure: a trip to the Quaggy. After grabbing some face paint, we set off, buzzing with anticipation.

Once we arrived at the river, we established our basecamp by the willows and had lunch. A group of boys immediately got to work on building a raft, their hands busy with hammers, drills, and tape as they brought their vision to life. The energy was high—everyone chipping in, sharing ideas, and problem-solving together.

Meanwhile, another group explored the Quaggy, playing a familiar game of tour guide where the older girls did a wonderful job supporting the little ones in the water. A metal detector uncovered hidden treasures in the stream, and a hammock swayed gently between two trees, offering a great spot for both giggles and quiet moments.

Then came the moment we’d all been waiting for—the raft was ready to test! With teamwork and excitement, the children carried it to the water, and as we launched it… it floated! What an incredible achievement! Just hours before, it had been a pile of wood and supplies, and now, thanks to determination and collaboration, it was a working raft. We made a few tweaks to perfect it, but the pride on everyone’s faces was real. Some children were so inspired they kept woodworking right up until it was time to head back to the club.

At our goodbye circle, we gave a massive cheer for two incredible parents—whose resources and expertise made this dream a reality—and for our wonderful volunteers, who supported us today. Building a raft seemed like such a big challenge at first, but together, we proved it was possible—what an unforgettable adventure! We will remember this day for a long time.

What a lovely day we had together! We started with our morning meeting, where the children enthusiastically shared stories of past adventures and upcoming trips—so many exciting tales! We also had a great chat with one of our parents, who kindly offered to lead an art workshop for us after the holidays. After some discussion, the group voted to create objects by pouring resin into moulds. We can’t wait to get started!

The morning was a whirlwind of imagination: some children crafted Easter cards and cross-stitch decorations, while others worked on their own crafts or even filmed a short video in the bar area. The highlight for many was the Easter egg hunt—an idea the children suggested last week, and they were thrilled to bring it to life. After going through the instructions together, they raced from clue to clue, dashing between the pool table, kitchen, garden, trampoline, toilet (yes, really!), and finally the outside storage. Once all the treats were found, we gathered to enjoy them and reflect on how we could make it even more fun next time.

After lunch, the lava volcano diorama got a playful upgrade as lots of tiny animals joined the scene—though not without some negotiations over glue gun usage (a great exercise in communication, patience, and compromise!). Then, we took the excitement outside for a spectacular lava explosion using bicarbonate of soda and vinegar. The group loved it so much that they’re already planning a bigger, bolder version next time!

The rest of the day was packed with Pokémon card trading, a fun game of Twister, completing a collaborative puzzle, and a variety of crafting masterpieces. Water balloon launches at the club walls brought laughter, and the garden buzzed with activity as children swung, weeded, and even tidied up with litter pickers—such fantastic teamwork!

We finished with a cheerful goodbye circle, wished one of the children a very happy birthday, and voted on an upcoming workshop—"Business" was the winning idea! We can’t wait to see what entrepreneurial ideas the children come up with.
