Summer Term 2 Update

Summer Term 2 Update

Hello friends,

Hope you all had a lovely summer and are enjoying autumn. We owe you an update from the wonderful last few weeks we had before holidays so here we go.

Summer term was filled with initiative, creativity and excitement. We ran a summer fair in Lee and even managed to open a new group in an adventure playground in Stockwell. Wow!

One week the children asked to make a sweet shop and they brought homemade cupcakes and some change the week after.

They also asked to visit a local charity shop. We went to one, met the manager and everyone bought some books and toys. We came back very pleased with our purchases.

Another week we went to a skate ramp with our rollerblades, roller skates, bikes, skateboards and scooters. What a fun afternoon it was!

We also invited a guest to tell us a bit about ancient Egypt and teach us about hieroglyphs. One of our dads came to the project with an acoustic guitar, an electric guitar and a ukulele and the kids had an opportunity to strum a guitar or two. The Stockwell group also participated in an African drumming workshop, which was totally awesome!

As always we took part in a few bigger projects. In Lee we made mosaics, explored the human body and prepared for our Hansel and Gretel show whereas in Stockwell we did colour mixing, origami and the Olympics.

Before we broke up for the summer, we said goodbye to everyone in a sweet little ceremony in our vegetable garden. The children received a certificate of completing a year of play, learning and exploration at Children’s Village as well as a gift each.
